ABOUT ABOUT
Join us for a wonderful evening with the legendary James King at the Mixon Farm in Bradenton, Florida. Multiple IBMA award winner James King will be making a special one night appearance. You won't want to miss this memorable evening with one of the legends of bluegrass music !

James King is considered one of the greatest bluegrass musicians working today. A featured member of Ralph Stanley's Clinch Mountain Boys in the 1980s, King, who was raised in Virginia's Carroll County, grew up listening to bluegrass. His first solo album, James King Sings Cold, Cold World, was released in 1998, soaring on the bluegrass charts and establishing King as an up and coming star on the bluegrass circuit. Rounder Records’ Ken Irwin took an interest in King and assembled a band of bluegrass all-stars to back him up on These Old Pictures (1994) and Lonesome and Then Some (1995). Shortly after, The James King Band was formed, followed by extensive touring and recognition as Emerging Artists of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) in 1997. The James King Band’s debut Bed by the Window (1998) was nominated for IBMA’s 1999 Song of the Year Award. In addition to his own band, King is also a member of the bluegrass supergroup Longview, which has featured Dudley Connell, Don Rigsby, Joe Mullins, Glen Duncan, Marshall Wilborn, Ron Stewart, Lou Reid and banjo master J.D. Crowe. James King with HWY 41 SOUTH will visit Mixon's Farm on January 13. HWY 41 SOUTH which has emerged as one of the hottest bluegrass bands in Florida has now played multiple Florida Festivals with James King beginning last year at the South Florida Bluegrass Festival in Miami.
